In August 2024, we opened the doors to Masa Taco Bar in downtown Stamford, CT — the sister restaurant to Chicho’s Cocina, located at 351 Shippan Avenue. However, our story begins 30 years ago back to 1995.
In 1995, Robert's parents opened the doors to their restaurant, Flamboyant, in Stamford. The family restaurant, which operated in Stamford from 1995 to 2025, was where Robert grew up — it was his childhood home and the place that sparked his lifelong passion for food. After a few years of searching for the right location, Robert opened the flagship restaurant, Chicho’s Cocina, in 2020. It was fondly named after his father, “Chicho,” who inspired Robert’s love for cooking at a young age through their family restaurant.
Chicho’s Cocina opened its doors at the start of the global pandemic in 2020. Despite the challenges of opening in the beginning of the pandemic, and with the incredible support of our local community, Chicho’s flourished — and five years later, we’re still going strong thanks to all of you!
Over the years, many of our loyal guests shared one wish: to enjoy our cuisine at Chicho's with a great margarita or cocktail in hand. Since Chicho’s is a small takeout restaurant (and doesn't have the square footage for a bar), we took that to heart. After two years of searching for the perfect spot, we found it — right on Broad Street, nestled between two of Stamford’s beloved Italian restaurants, Remo’s and Zaza, in the heart of downtown.
In August 2024, Masa Taco Bar was born. Here, we bring you authentic and fresh Mexican street food, specialty cocktails, cervezas, and of course — the vibes. It’s been an amazing first year, and we couldn’t have done it without our incredible guests and dedicated team.
